What’s in it for you:
The Software Developer Apprentice will be involved in software development, testing, debugging, and documenting applications. They will collaborate closely with our Head of Dev Ops, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders to deliver cutting-edge solutions that enhance our members' experience. This role requires a basic understanding of PHP, a keen interest in learning new technologies, and the ability to adapt and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
You will be responsible for:
- Assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of software applications
- Understanding and translating software requirements into functional code
- Debugging applications, identifying system errors and helping rectify issues
- Assisting in the creation of technical documentation for reference and reporting
- Contributing to code reviews to maintaining code quality standards
- Participating in regular team meetings and contributing to product development
discussions - Staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies
You will need the following skills:

Additionally, the following experience would be beneficial:
- Some experience in a software development environment, either through a previous
role, internship, or academic projects - Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Understanding or willingness to learn agile development methodologies
- Interest in the fitness or wellness industry
- A keen interest in computer science or related field
- Basic proficiency in PHP, with a willingness to further develop these skills
- Understanding of basic database concepts and SQL
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on troubleshooting and debugging
- Enthusiasm to learn new technologies and programming languages
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities
- A collaborative and enthusiastic attitude
Entry requirements:
- The learner must have completed a Level 3 Software Development Apprenticeship with QA or have an equivalent qualification with another training provider
- OR an A-level in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) subject and a successful completion of our aptitude test
- OR a BTEC Diploma in IT and a successful completion of our aptitude test
- OR 2 years’ experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our aptitude test
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
