About our site
Our York site has been producing sweets since 1966, Low Poppleton Lane covers our toffee, fudge and chocolate products. Including the iconic Raspberry Ruffle. Our highly skilled employees don't stop there, producing traditional boiled sweets such as the classic striped mint Humbug by hand!

We are looking for a Technical Trainer to join our team and help our staff become proficient in the use of our products and services.
The ideal candidate will have experience with IT, be comfortable with public speaking, and have a strong understanding of instructional design principles. The Technical Trainer will be responsible for creating training materials, conducting classes, and providing support to staff as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about teaching and helping others succeed.

Key Responsibilities
- To identify and train out the required SOP competencies for all new staff, in line with specified Job Role across the business and complete relevant paperwork
- To create and verify SOP’s for each area/ task within the business and update these as required, in conjunction with operational experts for the specific areas, GMP and Food safety standards
- Ensure SOPs are updated whenever new processes are introduced, changes to process are made, new machinery or working practices are introduced
- Update the Master Training Systems to ensure compliance with all required standards, this includes SOPs and general competency based training. Informing Line Managers about progress against specific plans.
- Work with Health and Safety to ensure that appropriate Risk Assessments are linked to the SOPs
- Administration and coordination of external training courses, coordination of external trainers and materials on responsible site/s
- Ensure all new employees are effectively inducted and trained in all required aspects and keep records up to date
- Ensure all new and existing employees undertake refresher training in all applicable quality procedures and are fully compliant in all mandatory and operational training
- Create a mechanism for feeding information regarding training requirements into the Company Training plan when requested by the L & D Business Partner.
- Support with planning and scheduling training at site level
- Carry out sampling of training records in all operational functions to ensure that these are being completed effectively.
- Deal with enquiries relating to SOP’s and Training at site level
- To support the improvement of training processes, systems and courses to meet the changing needs of the business
Skills/Knowledge/Experience
- Experience in an industrial training environment, preferable in the food industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Proficient in the use of all MS applications, email & internet
- Sound general administrative/organisational skills.
- Must have the ability to work to strict deadlines, demonstrating confident management of conflicting priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to create SOP’s appropriate for the audience, with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
- Able to travel to other sites as required
- Flexible to cover different shifts when needed (nights/weekend)

Key Role
- Responsible for maintaining the site training compliance systems
- Identification, creation and roll out of all SOPS for allocated site
- Responsible for coordinating the delivery of all mandatory training for site
- Ensuring that all new employees are inducted effectively according to Job Profiles and SOP matrix requirements
- Responsible for auditing training records and data to ensure effectiveness
- Provide on-site support for your own and other colleagues programmes as required
- Ensure all employees within the business complete their mandatory training requirements in line with company policy and external legal requirements
- Proactively act on evaluation feedback to ensure quality programme deployment, theme feedback & present suggestions for change
- Deputise for the L&D BP as required
- Work with L&DBP on other L&D key projects
Health, Safety and Environment
- Ensure all Health and Safety documentation is completed and recorded as required by law
- Ensure that adequate provision is made in providing all employees with information, instruction and training in Health and Safety
Quality
- Ensure the compliance, competitive advantage and legality of the site with regards to Food Safety
- Ensure a customer focus mindset is maintained

Other information
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday - Friday but some weekend and night work will be required

Salary: £22,600.00-£24,168.67 per year
