Junior Software Developer, Hull (Melton HU14 3HJ), salary up to circa £32,000 plus pension, 30 days holiday (plus option to purchase additional days), staff discount across Heron Foods and B&M.
This role is home based 4 days a week and we are happy to speak to people who live in locations such as, Leeds, Doncaster, Manchester, Sheffield, York, Nottingham or Lincoln, who are within a 2 hour commute of the Store Support Centre.
As part of the B&M retail group (£2.3bn), Heron Foods is one of the UK’s fastest growing food retailers with over 300 stores. In 2023 we aim to open a further 20 stores together with a busy refit program. As the Junior Software Developer you will be reporting into the Software Development Manager and will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting software in a microservice environment for new features and to replace elements of an existing, bespoke retail businesses management system.
As the Junior Software Developer you will also be responsible for the following:
- Maintaining a bespoke retail businesses management system.
- Designing and developing microservices using C#, .NET 6.0, Blazor, Entity Framework Core and RabbitMQ.
- Designing and developing feature improvements and tools using C#, WPF and SQL Server.
- Meeting key deadlines without loss of software quality.
Essential Skills, Experience and/or Qualifications:
- C# with a strong knowledge and practical understanding of object-oriented programming, generics, reflection and LINQ is essential.
- Having strong C#/SQL Server knowledge is imperative. Additionally, comfort and a good understanding of Agile development principles and Kanban approach is essential
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience designing and developing products, systems and applications.
- Experience in using Test Driven Design (TDD), mocking, source code control and continuous integration tools (NUnit, Moq, Git, TeamCity).
- SQL Server Design and Development skills including the creation of database schema and an understanding of indexing and performance.
