Job Description:

Systech IT Solutions are seeking a motivated and driven Apprentice Developer to join our team. This individual will be tasked with working alongside our development and service desk teams, developing new software and troubleshooting IT issues. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to gain a broad understanding of software development and IT support within a professional setting.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • Assisting with the development of software applications using languages such as C#, HTML5, JavaScript and scripting languages like PowerShell under the guidance of experienced software developers.
  • Learning and following established coding standards and methodologies.
  • Participating in daily team meetings, project planning, software demonstrations, and Agile Scrum meetings.
  • Helping to conduct software testing and quality assurance.
  • Providing first and second line support for the service desk, troubleshooting IT issues, and escalating when necessary.
  • Assisting in the identification and resolution of IT and software related issues.
  • Contributing to the maintenance and update of support documentation.
  • Working with the service desk to resolve issues, create solutions, and improve the customer experience.
  • Staying current with industry trends, technologies, and standards.

Qualifications:

5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths).

Skills Required:

  • Some experience in software development, coding, or IT support is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of coding languages (such as C#, HTML5, JavaScript) and scripting languages like PowerShell.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with a clear and effective communication style.
  • Willingness to learn and a proactive approach to work.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with database management.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Understanding of the principles of IT support and Service Desk operation.

Personal qualities:

  • Conduct yourself appropriately for working in business environment with respect for your colleagues and managers.
  • Be industrious and have a good work ethic.
  • Have good communications skills both written and verbally.

  • Implement accurate and effective change control.
  • Undertake unit testing of solutions, with appropriate levels of test code coverage, to identify and resolve issues.
  • Apply suitable ‘bug fixes’ based on severity and priority.
