Arconic is currently in search of Development Metallurgist to join our Kitts Green Team in Birmingham .

Primary Responsibilities
- Developing new products and processes at Kitts Green
- Liaising with customers and ATC on new products.
- Providing technical support to Sales (including customer visits) and manufacturing departments.
- Reviewing specifications.
- Maintenance of specification and routing systems.
- Build experience and knowledge to move to more senior positions.
- Supervise and train other members of the department
Key Objectives
- The job holder is required to work at a variety of levels from delivering shopfloor briefings/training to presenting project progress updates to managers.
- The job holder needs to develop a high level of technical credibility as with little direct control over manufacturing personnel, strong influencing/communication skills are a key requirement.
- The job holder will regularly receive significant direction and support /guidance from the Process and Product Development Manager as well as other senior members of the Technical and Quality departments.
- The job holder will have to liaise with customers directly and indirectly to resolve issues.
Basic/Preferred Qualifications
- The job holder will be a graduate with a degree in a Materials Science or related Engineering or Science discipline.
- It is likely that the job holder will have basic metallurgical and/or processing knowledge and possibly industrial experience.
- The job holder will have good problem solving skills (including general knowledge of statistical techniques).
- The job holder will be computer literate and familiar with widely used commercial software (such as Minitab, Excel, Powerpoint and Word). Experience of macro programming and/or Sharepoint advantageous.
