In the Children in Care Team, we are forward planning to meet increasing demand, whilst ensuring varied and manageable caseloads. This includes significant investment in new positions at management, Social Worker and Personal Advisor levels to ensure the best outcomes for our Children and Families.
Our care leaver promise, compliments the Children in Care council (CiCC) which is run by the Child and Youth Voice team who provide opportunities for care leavers to influence and shape the support and services they receive to enable us to increase inclusion and participation of all our looked after and care experienced young people.

We provide effective working models and team support:
Enable you to practice within a ‘one child, one worker’ journey. As an experienced social worker you will have the opportunity to work innovatively with children, young people, care leavers and their families whilst these children are accommodated by the local authority.
Provide you with the opportunity to work with young people using a long-term relationship-based model and approach, once their permanency plan has been established.
Locate you within a team which includes experienced Personal Advisors with whom you will co-work in preparation and planning with young people as they transition into adulthood.
About the role and about you
About the role
You will be working with unaccompanied children and young people who have previously entered the country in a unplanned way. These can include children and young people who can come through the National Transfer Scheme.
As a Social Worker you will need a wide range of skills including knowledge of immigration systems alongside a knowledge of specialised services on offer in respect of unaccompanied children and young people or a desire to learn about this.
The role can be very rewarding as you support a child or a young person through their journey of adapting to a new life in the UK and you will work closely along other Social Workers and Personal Advisors who are skilled in this area.
About you
We are looking for a qualified and experienced social workers who hold a relevant social care qualification, and a Social Work England registration.
You will bring an understanding of related agendas, practices and policies, as well as a thorough knowledge of all associated legislation.
An interest or prior experience in working with Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) would be advantageous but not essential.
