We’re big on making sure that we support young people to maximise their potential. What your new role is all about
You’ll be working directly with young people and recognising development opportunities. Your role will involve developing trusting relationships which will allow you to empower young people to develop their potential and achieve positive outcomes.
Safety is paramount and you’ll work to provide a safe environment for young people. It means speaking to young people about the dangers linked to their lifestyle, keeping in touch with them when they’re not back home and making sure you report and record any incidents. At times you’ll also be managing behaviour that is challenging.
Your role will be about modelling acceptable behaviour and helping young people develop living skills. At times you’ll be cooking, cleaning, shopping, and completing all the tasks you would expect that go on in a household.
Who you are:
- You’ll have a proven ability in establishing and maintaining trusting relationships with young people and professionals involved in their care. You also have:
- A friendly positive and approachable mannerism.
- A desire to learn new skills and embrace training and development opportunities.
- Great communication with good verbal, IT, and written skills.
- Knowledge of the issues that affect children and young people, including trauma, attachment, and contextual safeguarding and an ability and preparedness to recognise and deal appropriately with challenging behaviour.
- Demonstrable competence in contributing to effective assessment, risk management and strengths-based care planning.
- Resilience with a positive and adaptable approach to work.
- Commitment to the working pattern of the role, which includes rotating weekends and sleep-ins.
- Flexibility to come in on short notice, occasionally, when needed.
You’ll ideally hold a QCF/NVQ Level 3 working in health and social care/Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Residential Worker) or equivalent. Please note, you’ll need to be at least 22 years of age to meet our safeguarding obligations.
