Family learning encourages family members to learn together, with a focus on intergenerational learning. Family learning activities can also be specifically designed to enable parents to learn how to support their children’s learning.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Parenting and Family Support Worker within the Parenting and Family Learning Team. The team delivers services across Perth and Kinross offering a range of support. This role will focus on supporting families supporting the co-ordination of the delivery of Solihull Approach training. This post will involve planning and delivery of a range of evidence-based family learning and parenting programmes. This will include development of positive networks with services and other organisations to promote the programmes and facilitate effective referral processes; active recruitment of parents to groups; delivery and evaluation of the weekly sessions; collation and uploading of relevant data; ongoing development of practice. This is a 21.6 hours per week, full year position. Working times may vary including evening and weekends.

The Individual

You must be educated to degree level and have experience of working in a relevant discipline such as Social Care, Community Education, Health, Social Work or Education.

You must have experience and skills in engaging and support parents individually or within a group setting. The successful candidate should be trained in at least one of the following evidence based programmes:

Antenatal Peep,

School Age Incredible Years,

Teen Triple P,

Fear Less,

Speakeasy.

You must have knowledge and understanding of child development and of working in partnership with other services/organisations.

You must have good communication skills and be able to develop appropriate relationships with families.

You must be enthusiastic and highly motivated and able to share this with service users.

You must have a flexible approach and be able to work evenings and weekends if required.
