Intermediate Care Allocation Team

We are currently recruiting:

A passionate and proactive experienced Social Worker to work within The Intermediate Care Allocation Team (EAST) at Lancashire County Council.

One of the most important aspects of a social work practice is to respond and support people who are in crisis to regain control of their life and their independence. Working with people on a time limited basis, drawing on strengths-based approaches and multidisciplinary team working to bring about stability is what we do best.

As a busy and thriving service, we are typically all systems go, responding to our people quickly, at the time they need us, working with them intensively to figure out the right level and type of support they need to enable them to live a better life. Our work is both challenging and rewarding, where no two days are ever the same.

The Intermediate Care Allocation Team is run by a multidisciplinary team, supported by business support officers, two professional service leads and a business manager. On a local footprint we enjoy an excellent reputation amongst our stakeholders. As a service we are extremely proud of the work we do and the difference we make. We receive many compliments and messages of gratitude from the people we work with. We are therefore looking for an experienced social worker who is looking to take up a Senior position within the team who will strive for, build upon and enhance our team's high practice standards.

We are an East Lancashire wide resource, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

What we are looking for:

Experts in Intermediate Care – Intermediate Care plays an vital role in delivering the outcomes our people are looking for. We're looking for a Senior Social Worker who is an expert in and a strong advocate for Intermediate Care. The ICAT Senior Social Worker is required to educate, support and instil confidence not just within the wider team but also our close partners and external professionals alike to identify opportunities to promote independence with the people we work with. As a Senior Social Worker you will utilise your professional knowledge to contribute to maintaining and enhancing high practice standards within the team. You will be expected to contribute to developing and delivering induction plans, deliver training, participate in audit, set and deliver on improvement goals and give expert advice as and when required.

Ability to Challenge – Critical reflection and reflexivity is the corner stone to improve social work practice. As a Senior Social Worker within the ICAT service not only must your own self reflection skills be highly developed, but as a supervisor you must be able to create the conditions for others to reflect, grow and develop through providing high quality supervision. The ICAT Senior Social Worker is required to review performance, give timely, honest and constructive feedback to those who they supervise, identifying both strengths and areas for development. The ICAT Senior Social Worker acts as a point of escalation to the wider team and may get embroiled in professional conflicts and differences of opinion. The ability to challenge and negotiate to bring about the best outcome for the person is crucial.

Creative Practitioners – As we roll out 'Living Better Lives in Lancashire' a greater emphasis is now being placed on practicing well rather than processing well and a key facet of the Senior Social Worker role will be to ensure successful implementation of this. We are now in a place where we have conversations with people about what really matters to them, sticking with people like glue and working with them intensively on a short term basis to bring about stability and better outcomes. Part of Living Better Lives in Lancashire is to take a strengths-based approach, where both personal and community assets are drawn upon to bring about positive change. This change in practice requires different and creative thinking to ensure our people live happy and ordinary lives that are well connected to their community.

Compassionate Practitioners – When our people are experiencing a crisis, a compassionate approach provides a sound platform to build from to give our people hope and confidence to achieve their potential. We want a Senior Social Worker who will foster and supplement our culture of compassion. As a Senior Social Worker you will be required to ensure our practitioners listen hard to what our people are telling them and that they gain a real understanding of what matters to them, ensuring their wishes, feelings and beliefs are central to decision making. You will demonstrate your own ability and influence others to take a genuine interest in the unique needs and aspirations of the people we work with. The ICAT Senior Social Worker needs to be curious, kind, useful, always uphold human rights and social justice and do our best to ensure nobody comes to any harm. In line with our increased emphasis on both individual and team wellbeing, the ICAT Senior Social Worker plays an import role to ensure our team’s wellbeing remains strong and resilient.

Values driven – We want a Senior Social Worker whose values mirror our own and treat our people with the respect they deserve. Our service recognises that people are experts in their own lives and are required to challenge the circumstances and environments that marginalise, exclude or oppress. We need a Senior Social Worker who respects the dignity and diversity of the people we are here for. Our service is responsible for making sure our people live as independently as possible for as long as possible. We take a proportionate approach and involve themselves in people's lives in the least intrusive way possible and always in their best interests.

Why join us:
