BANK - Day/Night Family Support Worker
We are a small Residential Family Assessment Centre based in Bognor Regis on the south coast. Our role is to support parents, usually with very young babies, to evidence their ability to safely parent their children. Our families will have a range of needs such as, mental health issues, drug and alcohol addiction and learning needs.
We are looking for committed, hardworking and highly motivated individuals dedicated to ensuring the safe and wellbeing of families by supporting and enabling our residents to take control of their lives.
Working with people with complex needs, you will utilise elements of personalisation to improve engagement and promote positive outcomes and independence.
Key accountabilities and skills:
- Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
- Supporting safe and positive contact with family members/significant people
- Completing daily reports, risk assessments, observations and recordings
- Compilation of Life story work
- Facilitating both group work and one-to-one key-working sessions
- Supporting Parents/carers with daily living skills, including, booking/attending appointments and community groups, bidding for housing, registering with doctors, completing official forms and responding to letters.
- Supporting Parents/carers to with routines e.g. budget/shopping/organising
- Supporting Parents/carers with social and physical activities
- Supporting safe and positive contact with family members/significant people
- Some cleaning duties
- Undertake any other such duties as required within the spirit of the post
- Ability to communicate with vulnerable young people or adults

- A flexible and common-sense approach to problem solving
Qualifications:
An NVQ (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care, Childcare or People’s Workforce Diploma at Level 3 or above, or a degree/diploma in Psychology, Health, Midwifery or Mental Health or similar.
Alternatively, you will have extensive experience working in a residential setting and be willing to work toward a Level 3 qualification in the first year of employment.
At times there may be challenging or abusive behaviours which will require emotional resilience, patience and empathy. For-Families recognise this can be an emotive role, so you will be provided with a high level of support from our management team, along with extensive training, which you will be required to attend. We also actively encourage you to pursue your own personal development.
