What you will be doing:
The team is co located within our locality of Ferndown Dorset and covers the East of the county including, Ferndown, Wimborne, Verwood, West Moors and surrounding villages as well as parts of Upton. Our Purbeck team are in Wareham. East and Purbeck Children’s Social Care Locality team have the same Service Manager and Head of Locality providing consistency and stability for the teams.
Working in locality allows you to build stronger relationships with families, providing the opportunity to develop long-term relationships and become a familiar face in the community. This can help build trust and make it easier to work collaboratively with families to support their children.
As a social worker in a specific locality, you will become familiar with the local resources available to families, and you will develop an understanding of the unique challenges facing the community and how these challenges impact children and families.
By building strong relationships, focusing on prevention, and working collaboratively with families and other professionals you can help improve the outcomes of the children and families you work with.
About you:
You will have a genuine interest in restorative practice and a strengths-based approach to building effective relationships with children, families, and communities.
You must have a Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England and you must be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the post. If you have completed your ASYE and/or have experience of working in statutory social care services we would like to hear from you.

Relocation expenses package -
A generous relocation package is payable, of which up to £8,000 (of HMRC eligible elements) are free of tax. We can offer you help to move whether you are looking to buy or rent, depending on your circumstances.
Our package includes:
- an initial advance of up to £2,500 payable when you start
- help towards fees associated with buying/selling (up to £6,500)
- an option to receive help towards your rent or mortgage in the first two years
