Job Purpose:
The post holder will contribute towards the objectives of the Fostering Service by meeting the following objectives:
1. To recruit, assess, supervise, monitor, train, support and review Daffodils Fostering Limited’s foster carers.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities: To undertake visits in line with policy and legislation.
- To complete detailed referrals, initial visits and assessments that reflect an understanding of the complex needs of looked after children.
- To liaise, problem solve and negotiate with social workers, prospective and approved foster carers and members of the public to ensure the best interests of the child are met.
- To be aware of and work within appropriate financial regulations and procedures and to ensure that the most effective use is made of financial and other resources.
- To participate in project management.
- To participate in the teams duty system
- To be able to work as part of a team.
- To maintain performance against targets.
- To have the ability and commitment to use Information Technology.
- To contribute towards the development of best practice within the unit.
- To take a high degree of responsibility for professional development.
- To keep abreast of relevant legislation and regulations, departmental policies and procedures affecting the Placement Service.
- To participate in regular supervision
- To take part in the provision of training for prospective and approved carers.
- Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and all employees are required to act in such a way that at all times safeguards the health and well being of children and vulnerable adults.

- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of this post.
Special Requirements The postholder must be registered with Social Work England for admittance to the Social Care Register. This position requires that postholders undertake an Enhanced DBS considered satisfactory by the Council prior to employment and every 3 years thereafter.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Knowledge and Qualifications:
- CQSW/DipSW or equivalent qualifications.
- Significant knowledge and experience of supporting, training, supervising foster carers and completing fostering assessments.
- Knowledge of appropriate legislation and understanding of child protection procedures, adoption and fostering.
- Knowledge and experience of working with children and families.
- Knowledge of Equal Opportunities and customer service in accordance to Daffodils Fostering Limited’s Policies.
Skills and Abilities:
- The ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally with service users and other professionals.
- The ability to prepare reports and undertake fostering assessments within statutory timescales.
- The ability to collaborate with social work colleagues and other professionals.
- The ability to provide a service which is culturally sensitive and empowering to all clients.
- The ability to record information in an accurate and timely manner using the local authority electronic recording system.
- The ability to present information to the Fostering Panel and support applicants at panel.
