Job details:

Salary : £32,020 - £34,722 plus a recruitment & retention package of £5000 over 6 years.

Hours : 37 hours per week (part time hours will be considered and the ASYE programme length would be extended to accommodate this).

Contract : Permanent

The Portsmouth ASYE programme

Portsmouth is a fantastic place to practice and we look forward to supporting you on your Social Work journey during the programme, which is supported via the Stronger Futures Academy. The academy is well established and continually evolves and develops.

Our 12-month ASYE programme provides 'on the job' training to help you understand and unpick the work you are completing. As part of this you will be enrolled into the ASYE Stronger Futures Academy where you will receive dedicated ASYE Academy sessions to support your understanding of the journey & voice of the child, this will include practice sessions to understand and apply models of practice and tools to support you in your work. In addition, we offer monthly half day study days, funding to purchase your own resources, on-site assessors, peer led action learning sets and reflective practice groups.

You will have an opportunity to work in one of our Family Safeguarding & Support teams based centrally or in the north of the city supporting children in need of support or protection or in one of our teams for children who need to be in the care of the local authority.

We will support you through your first year of practice and continue to progress your social work career in Portsmouth through a dedicated post-ASYE development pathway.


What you'll need to succeed

Be a recently graduated or graduating Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) with a BA, MA, BSc, or Apprenticeship degree in social work (or equivalent gained outside the UK and recognised by SWE).

As well as being an excellent communicator, you'll need a desire to further develop your working knowledge of theory and legislation and maintaining Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for your registration.
