This is an exciting opportunity for a child focused, dynamic and enthusiastic social worker to join the Staffordshire Adoption Assessment and Support Locality Team, part of the Together4Children Permanency Partnership, for a 12-month period, as we respond creatively to developments in the field of adoption and permanence, based either in Uttoxeter or Lichfield.

Main ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking to appoint an experienced social worker, skilled in undertaking timely, evidence-based adoption assessments and the provision of high-quality support to prospective adopters and is determined and persistent in their family finding activities for prospective adopters and children. There is also an expectation that the social worker appointed will provide support and advice on adoption matters as required on duty and be involved in the preparation and delivery of training to prospective adopters, foster carers, and colleagues in a range of areas related to adoption and permanence.
Whilst there is the opportunity for some home-based working, the Adoption Assessment and Support Team provides a county wide service, and you will be required to travel to various locations across the Together4Children Permanency Partnership Region, as well as travel across the country as necessary. There is a requirement to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends on a planned basis.
The Ideal CandidateYou will:
- Be a qualified social worker with experience of assessing prospective adopters.
- Have a sound understanding of relevant legislation and policy in respect of adoption, permanency planning, children in care and safeguarding.
- Have skills in direct work with children and adults.
- Have a thorough understanding of attachment, separation, trauma and child development.
- Have the ability to work in partnership with other agencies across the country.
