Job description
This is an opportunity for a social media strategist and content creator to build an online community and ecosystem that draws on the V&A’s rich creative heritage but is entirely tailored to V&A East. We are seeking a candidate with a fresh perspective; good knowledge of the local area and target audiences; and a willingness to challenge ideas of a cultural institution’s social media output.
The Social Media Producer, V&A East will play a key role in defining how we build and grow an online community for V&A East through a social media presence that drives engagement and advocacy across social channels including TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter.
V&A East sits within the V&A family but has its own distinct brand identity and voice. The Social Producer, V&A East will help shape how the V&A East brand and tone of voice shows up on social media, develop a social media strategy and content approach that shares diverse voices and perspectives, and help us draw unexpected connections between our collections and our communities. This is an exciting opportunity to pitch, commission and create new content streams – should we meme the collection; follow the V&A East team members for a day; or deliver How To guides on creative careers?
Museums, and collections don’t exist in a vacuum and neither do we, so this role will strike the balance between exploring objects in our collections, marketing programming and activities; and situating ourselves within the wider socio-political, and cultural landscape on social media.
