Job description

This role is an exciting opportunity for a Social Media Journalist to join the Sky Sports Social team. You will work as part of a wider team creating & publishing world-class content to the Sky Sports network of YouTube & social media channels.
What you’ll do:
  • Source the best Sky Sports content and publish across social media channels, understanding the unique features of each platform and tailoring content accordingly.
  • Use your knowledge of a wide range of sports to write creative social copy that engages online fans.
  • Work across Sky Sports’ catalogue of live rights, to inform and entertain audiences across social media, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Take responsibility and maintain the highest standards of accuracy while delivering sports news social video in a timely and accurate manner, demonstrating excellent news judgement.
  • Collaborate with multiple areas of Sky Sports, including video production and digital editorial teams to make sure our social output is fully aligned with all output streams.
  • Plan the delivery of social media content for tentpole events across the sporting calendar, with a focus in driving specific business objectives.
  • Help publish important branded content campaigns liaising with social platforms where necessary.
  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of current sporting issues, stories, and rival publishers.
  • Support the Senior Producer Social Media in relationship management of key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support Sky and Sky Sports in the promotion of “Force for Good” initiatives.
What you’ll bring
  • Professional sports social media or sports journalism experience in the digital space.
  • High levels of motivation and creativity with a passion and extensive knowledge of sports.
  • A team player mentality, believing in collaboration, adaptability, initiative, and desire to go above and beyond for your peers.
  • In-depth knowledge of YouTube & all major social platforms.
  • Experience using Premiere Pro & Adobe suite.
  • Demonstratable experience of working in a fast-paced sport publishing environment with tight deadlines.
  • A calm, organised and methodical approach to work, including the ability to prioritise.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to provide quick resolution to problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong work ethic and a willingness to get involved in all aspects of the business when necessary.
