We are looking for a Social Media Assistant to join us working across Reach’s national brands - Daily Mirror and Daily Star. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive web traffic through social media platforms, from Facebook and Twitter to Instagram and TikTok.
We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.
This role is home and hub based linked to our London Hub. We are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.
What will the role involve?
You will find and pitch stories using analytics and tools to tell you what’s already trending, as well as finding the next big stories yourself. Editing and posting stories and videos on our social pages while coming up with new creative ways to drive traffic to our sites and grow our audiences.
You will forward plan social media content and coverage, covering live events and breaking news on social media while monitoring the external landscape to identify trends - and communicate findings while sharing knowledge and best practice across the newsroom. You will monitor your social media analytics and produce reports to see areas for improvement.
Who are we looking for?
You are a social media expert with an NCTJ or equivalent journalism qualification and media law knowledge. You’re an excellent communicator who is able to sell stories with flair, passion and skill. You have a detailed knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and other social media platforms including knowledge of scheduling tools.
You are a fast but accurate writer with a strong news sense and understanding of different brands and their audiences. You keep your finger on the pulse of news across social media and know how to sell a story that engages and drives traffic.
