The Global Social Media Team are a dedicated, integrated team working in the Group Communications & Brand function. We are a cross-line of business team, providing global 24/7 social media support and are currently based in the UK, Hong Kong and China.
We are looking for a Social Media and Digital Platform Specialist to plan, manage and deliver high priority projects specific to our social media management tools and platforms. The role is heavily dependent on the ability to be innovative, proactively looking for opportunities for investment and growth. The role also involves a high degree of technical understanding, using this as a base to drive enhancements and adoption of compliant social media usage.
This role forms part of HSBC’s Global Social Media Insights & Governance team within Group Communications & Brand, reporting to the Senior Social Media Insights & Governance Manager.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Driving the delivery of high priority projects, aligned to the Global Social Media Insights & Governance team objectives.
- Project management of social and digital technologies. Displaying the ability to own projects, liaise across business lines and meet deadlines.
- Responsible for the technical working relationship between HSBC and social media and digital technology providers.
- Play a leadership role in relation to HSBC’s use of social media and digital technology, taking ownership for all innovation and configuration requirements.
- Horizon scanning for new technological opportunities, platforms and collaboration, that will enhance HSBC’s performance and impact across social and digital channels.
- Supporting the business needs for social media insights through technology, automated solutions, and AI.
- Liaising with broader Communications teams on how social data can support business insight requests, management of reputational incidents and aiding the business to digitalise at scale.
- Management of our social media enterprise tools, ensuring we are maximising their capability and driving usage throughout the business.
- Responsible for maximising all elements of HSBC’s social media technology capability, to supplement future contract negotiations
- Identifying areas for social media growth and expansion, aligned to business strategies. Cascading the benefits of Sprinklr and other social tools across the business
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Essential - Substantial administrative experience of using Sprinklr social media management tool. The applicant must have extensive knowledge of Sprinklr and be able to showcase that they have applied this knowledge to the delivery of Sprinklr centric projects.
- Essential - Strong experience of leading, managing and delivering Projects, utilising relevant tools and techniques to ensure consistent delivery.
- Essential - Extensive knowledge of social media. Be familiar with social media platforms and understand their capabilities and limitations.
- Extensive knowledge of the social media enterprise and governance tools that are used across the group as well as keeping up-to-date with new and improved tools available within the market.
- Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Broad based social media or Comms experience, ideally within a Financial Services based institution is desirable but not essential.
- Detailed understanding of Global Comms structure including working with regional teams during rollouts and marketing events.
- Delivery-focused with ability to pay attention to detail and ensure tasks are completed on time and to the required levels of quality.
- Exceptional organisational, planning and management skills.
- Ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Ability to build relationships by communicating and influencing effectively with business heads, senior managers and third-party consultants.
- Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with proven experience of building and maintaining global team relationships.
- Outstanding written / verbal communication and presentation skill.
The base location for this role is Leeds/Hybrid.
