AstraZeneca is seeking a Global Medical Affairs Leader (GMAL) with breast cancer expertise to work on critical life cycle assets.
Evidence Generation is of high strategic importance in Medical Affairs, and in this highly visible role you will be responsible for the leadership and coordination of these activities in collaboration with the other medical leaders across the organization. Other responsibilities include advisory boards, congress activities, CME and symposia programs, medical evidence generation plans, external expert engagement plan and other relevant medical activities.
This role will require matrix leadership and broad internal cross-functional collaboration with multiple global medical and development teams, marketing teams as well as teams in key affiliates.
Finally, you will contribute to the broader strategic planning to build Astra Zeneca's medical leadership in breast cancer.
The GMAL/ Ev Gen lead:
Designs or manages the implementation of the Evidence Generation strategy within Med Affairs globally
Designing, monitoring and implementing clinical trials and interpreting trial results ( Phase IIIb, IV, RWD and externally sponsored research)
Leading Steering committees, Ad Boards, Investigator meeting and other relevant events to data generation strategy and implementation
Defines strategies and leads AstraZeneca’s response to complex technical issues for specific medical aspects in relation to current projects, new projects and various plans
Closely follows medical developments within assigned areas and disseminates new information cross-functionally to transform trends and embed emerging data into new plans
Liaises with the internal and external medical community to follow developments within areas of expertise
Maintains a high degree of understanding and awareness on new and emerging medical development
Follows important developments and trends in scientific literature and develops contacts with opinion leaders
This position is responsible of developing and executing an integrated medical evidence generation plan for critical assets in Breast Cancer, and ensures the timely, high quality input into global development and brand plans.
A critical accountability of this role is to develop strategic and long-term partnerships with relevant external oncology stakeholders and decision makers, through the development of AZ’s scientific leadership with scientific organizations, external experts, HTA/payer organizations and patient advocacy groups to help inform and develop a best-in-class medical affairs capabilities aligned with the medical needs of our portfolio.
Essential for the role
Advanced scientific degree (MsC, MD, PhD, PharmD). MD is preferable
Experience in oncology therapy area
Pharmaceutical or relevant medical/clinical experience (Experience in global Clinical development or Medical Affairs evidence generation)
Proven ability to generate, analyze and interpret clinical trial and published data
Track record of successfully developing and executing Scientific Plans both in terms of evidence generation, scientific communications and external expert engagements
Ability to manage multiple projects and products simultaneously to ensure timely, on-target and within budget accomplishment of tasks
Closely follows medical developments within assigned areas and disseminates new information cross-functionally to transform trends and embed emerging data into new plans
Liaises with the internal and external medical community to follow developments within areas of expertise
Maintains a high degree of understanding and awareness on new and emerging medical development
Follows important developments and trends in scientific literature and develops contacts with opinion leaders

Proven track record in product launches with a strong strategic focus
Understanding of drug development and commercialization processes including understanding of outcomes research /payer access processes
The candidate is expected to have strong project management skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including development, marketing, and health outcomes.
