As a Snowflake Platform Administrator, a typical day might look like:
- Increasing our agility by building systems to automate our management of the Snowflake Data Platform, by applying an “Automate Everything” mindset
- Continuously improving the Snowflake database environment administration
- Supporting the broader engineering community with their use of our Snowflake Data Platform
- Working with teams to troubleshooting issues with the Data Platform
- Work on the critical incidents and user service requests and responsible for SLA adherence, tracking and reporting.
- Analyse our use of the Data Platform, suggesting and implementing improvements to our ways of working, standards and security
- Provide snowflake expertise as part of a cross functional software delivery team(s)
- Creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for our automation products and tooling
- Designing Cloud Native solutions, using best practices and working to continually improve those solutions
- Communicating & sharing technical decisions with non-technical team members and stakeholders.
- Working closely with Snowflake themselves, their RSAs and priority support teams
- Working with Agile delivery teams in a fast-paced, DevOps environment
- Mentoring junior engineers
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Database administration knowledge in Snowflake, or another database platform
- Extensive experience in setting up, deploying and maintaining snowflake cloud platform and administration
- Experience in User (on/off boarding), Access (grant/revoke) management, backup(clone) and restore activities
- Experience in SnowSQL
- Be able to identify performance bottlenecks, tune Query and Performance, Triage and resolve the same.
- Clustering strategies
- Be able to generate and monitor the cost/credit consumption reports and take the effective measures for cost optimization
- Analyse and resolve platform related issues.
- Strong SQL Skills
- Production monitoring & alerting distributed applications at scale
- Knowledgeable on AWS or other cloud platform
- General understanding of Data Modelling Techniques
- Python programming and testing
- Github and Github Workflows
- Infrastructure as code
- Familiar with a well-architected framework and Serverless solutions
- Comfortable being part of a Data Engineering team and working alongside Engineers
