PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Small Grains Segment Lead, Precision Technology primarily focuses on understanding the needs of our global customers who grow small grains. They will interact directly with customers to provide voice of the customer insights to the Precision Technology organization. This leader will be responsible for deepening customer and market understanding to the entire organization. They will be customer centric and focused ensuring we are gathering customer and market needs through regional marketing teams and market research, dealers, and customers.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor key global market activities (customer problems, competitive practices and products, industry trends, etc.) to use as input to the product line strategies, customer requirements, and product definition.
- Be customer first, work with customers, dealers, and market specialists across the globe to deliver the best products that can be conceived.
- Keep informed of the market and financial performance of both new and current products including cost, margins, quality, and customer satisfaction to confirm the correct project priorities and product specifications to execute brand strategies.
- Facilitate customer research including focus groups, customer clinics and surveys to define product need, priorities, and requirements, as a basis of the product strategy.
- Lead product specialists to develop and document in detail: Product offering, product definition and product requirement documents that meet the needs of the brand strategies, customer expectations, and drive the product development process.
- Build strong relationships with the brands’ regional marketing teams to understand global markets.
- Visit dealers and customers to establish product requirements, gather competitive intelligence, and support business expansion.
- Support brand regional marketing in the development of marketing messages and unique selling propositions.
- Develop a benchmarking strategy that ensures we are meeting our competitive position goals for new and current products.
- Support platform and program managers to assimilate required information to support program milestone reviews, including pricing strategy and market share growth to assist platform decisions on product development project feasibility and priority.
- Drive continuous product improvement through the current products team for both current product (CPI) and quality and reliability (Q&R) improvements.
- Appraise new product innovation ideas to determine their potential to address customer needs and to achieve goals in revenue and market share.
- Balance product margin, quality and reliability, competitive positioning, and customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for providing input to Precision Technology strategy document.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3-5+ years of experience working directly with customers in the precision ag technology space.
- Agronomic experience with small grain cropping systems.
