Job description
Required for busy local Abattoir which processes approximately 500 animals per week. Working Monday to Friday (No Saturdays) from 7.00 am to 4.00 pm.
The role includes:
The humane, regulated, slaughtering, processing and dressing of Cattle, Pigs, Sheep and Calves. Using both electrical and captive bolt stunning. The process involves shackling, stunning, sticking, polishing, skinning, de-hiding, evisceration and trimming. Followed by grading weighing and chilling of carcasses.
You will be working in a small team who rotate their roles throughout the day. There will also be some cleaning of the abattoir and equipment both during the day and at the end of the shift.
You will be required to be flexible in your role and asked to perform varying tasks on any given day. You will be used to working in a fast paced environment as part of a dynamic team.
Requirements:
Experience within a similar role is preferred.
You will be required to possess a full F.S.A. Slaughterman’s/Animal Welfare Licence or prepared to work towards one.
COSHH and Manual Handling Training would be an advantage
You will need to be physically fit and well enough to carry out the role safely.
You will be punctual, reliable and flexible as you will be working as part of a team that relies on these things.
Benefits:
Up to £14.50 per hour dependant on experience.
