We’re looking for Site Supervisors to come and join our team based in the Midlands to undertake construction supervision and assurance inspections and oversee H&S compliance on highway major maintenance and minor improvement schemes being delivered by Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF), Category Management (CatMan), Maintenance and Response (M&R) and third-party contractors across the region.
Please note additional and/or unsociable working hours including night working will be required for which there will be paid overtime and/or an out of hours allowance. You will be required to drive as part of this role, and you will need to have a full clean driving license to be considered for this role and during employment.

What you’ll be leading on
- Assuring the completion of planned works to the required standard including compliance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Manual of Contract Documents for Highways Works.
- Verifying contractors comply with HSE legislation including the CDM regulations, as well as verifying temporary traffic management is installed in accordance with approved layouts.
- Supervision and inspection of works in accordance with contractual teams and escalating on-site issues that need resolving to the Construction Assurance Manager (CAM).
- Providing CAMs with regular feedback on scheme coordination, risks, and design related issues, as well as liaising with Commercial & Procurement teams to provide information on early warnings and compensation events.
- Monitoring supply chain partners to ensure works are proceeding in accordance with the accepted programme.
- Identifying, in consultation with CAMs and contractors, improvements which eliminate or reduce construction related risks and identifying and managing the rectification of defects.
- Proactively identify opportunities for efficiencies during the construction of schemes.
To be successful
- Highways and structures construction and maintenance experience
- Knowledge and experience of site-based processes and procedures for health & safety, environmental and quality management
- Good understanding of the Specification for Highway Works, Chapter 8 and CDM Regulations
- Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills along with a strong customer focus
- Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office 365 programmes
