We have an exciting opportunity for a SRE Engineer in Cloud Engineering Team. We are looking for a motivated and experienced SRE or DevOps Engineer to join our team to help shape Centrica’s cloud platform of the future.
Location: Flexible/Remote
Package: Competitive base salary, plus healthcare, annual bonus, pension options and 25 days holiday
Job Overview:
DTS provides centralised IT services, including cloud hosting and management to the rest of Centrica Group. As part of our ongoing transformation strategy to fully embrace both Agile and Cloud Computing we are building a new Cloud Engineering team to provide Cloud based services and automation for other DevOps teams to consume.
Day-to-day accountabilities
As a SRE Engineer, you will be involved in the Design, Build and Operation of cloud tools and services for DevOps teams throughout Centrica to consume.
Work with our Cloud Engineering and DevOps teams to develop systems and software that help increase IT reliability and performance
Engage with stakeholders such as Infosec, Strategy and Architecture and T&N to understand their requirements
Ensure alignment with Cloud Best Practises
Partner with the development teams to help manage the entire stack from release cycles to data security
Empower our DevOps teams to deliver
Involved in all aspects of software support including out of hours support duties
Required Skills
Qualification in Programming, IT or Cloud Computing field
Exposure to Operating System management, Windows, or Unix
Demonstrable problem-solving skills
Familiarity with DevOps and Agile Methodologies
Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jira, ADO, GitHub, etc
Personal Traits
Passionate about software: Active on GitHub
A self-starter who knows how to RTFM
Easy to work with; open, honest, and good sense of humour
Upbeat and optimistic; comfortable celebrating failure when it leads to learning and iteration.
Education: Degree or equivalent computer related course, or vocational course focused on Cloud Computing
