Purpose of the Job
To manage the Security Team and site security operations. This role will provide a delivery of service that exceeds customer requirements and optimises service excellence. To demonstrate Honesty and Integrity at all times.
Key Result Areas
Operations
- Control all security operations in compliance with all Statutory, Company, legal and contractual requirements.
- Ensure monthly, formal meetings are held with customer, correctly minuted and recorded.
- Ensure investigations into breaches of security, theft etc, are initiated and progressed.
- Ensure adequate and timely response to incidents and changed customer requirements.
- Ensure manning of site at contracted levels with regular, shift patterns and with trained and qualified staff.
- Work in partnership with GSK colleagues, ensuring all aspects of Site Security and all site related health & safety and fire prevention requirements are effectively managed.
- To raise the profile of security, health & safety and fire prevention ensuring that the customer is well informed at all times of procedures and processes.
- To be the initial G4S management contact for all security matters.
- To be the G4S focal point for all fire, security and safety related issues.
- Ensure all security positions are visited throughout the working day.
- Fully understand that use of the I.T. systems and monitor the correct application of the I.T. Security policy.
- To maintain liaison with relevant local external agencies (e.g. Police, Fire).
- To be available on call 24 hours in case of emergency.
- To deliver regular New Starter Security briefings.
- To manage protest activity and follow escalation procedures.
Staff Management
- To establish and manage a security team which is well motivated, informed, focused and clear about its role and objectives.
- Ensure, via Team Leader, appropriate motivation and formalised development training of staff to meet and exceed contractual needs.
- Maintain fair and consistent disciplinary and grievance procedures in conjunction with HR Manager.
- When advised by Team Leader arrange standby and replacement SOs when required from within the team to cover holidays, sickness and absence.
- Ensure inter-team communications are maintained and issues dealt with in a timely and effective manner.
- Identify suitable personnel for development and succession planning.
Equipment
- Control use of radios and other equipment.
- Ensure economical use and recording of all supplies and consumables.
- Ensure all site security system faults are recorded and managed.
Administration
- Provide accurate and timely information for the preparation of reports.
- Ensure all extra cover is accurately recorded and financially monitored.
- Ensure provision of adequate information for proper personnel administration of employees.
- Ensure Assignment Instructions and Site Security Manuals, Health & Safety Risk Assessments and Site Security Risk Assessments are updated and maintained in response to incidents and customer requirements and that all members of the Security team understand them.
- Ensure that all incidents and requests for assistance are recorded correctly on the electronic database.
- Review DOB’s daily and ensure any issues are addressed.
Recruitment
- Monitor manpower requirements, recommending action to Contract Manager.
- Respond to subsequent requests for screening or other information needed.
- Assist HR Manager with final selection of Security personnel.
Training
- Review and sign off all Induction programmes for new personnel.
- Manage the Security Team Development Programme.
- Ensure contractual training is completed and recorded.
- Identify subsequent training needs and ensure employee is trained to required standard.
Secondary Accountabilities
Other responsibilities agreed by Contract / Operations Manager.
