About the role:
Next Furniture Manufacturing (NFM) successfully launched in April 2016, and continues to experience rapid growth in the production of Next Sofas at our state of the art manufacturing facility in Armthorpe, Doncaster. It's all about producing the right product to the right standard in the most efficient way; this means our in-house manufacturing unit has to be quality focused, efficient and responsive to customer needs.
Our Maintenance Team plays a pivotal role in supporting the manufacturing team, by ensuring that the production machinery and equipment is maintained and repaired as required. As a Site Maintenance Manager within Next Furniture Manufacturing, you will be responsible for leading a small team of Maintenance Engineers to ensure that operational queries regarding equipment are investigated promptly and a suitable repair plan is implemented so as to keep manufacturing disruption to a minimum.
As Site Maintenance Manager at NFM, you will be required to;
- Provide leadership and day to day supervision of a small team of Maintenance Engineers across manufacturing shifts, prioritising workload and managing appropriate resources.
- Manage the service planned preventative maintenance schedule on a range of production and warehouse machinery including CNCs, foam cutters, track rollers, pneumatics, hydraulics and conveyors in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and industry standard practices
- Be responsible for managing the service budget, developing strong working relationships with service providers
- Prioritise repairs, breakdowns and planned preventative maintenance of our site services to ensure equipment is running to its optimum performance to meet all performance targets
- Manage the maintenance stores ensuring sufficient spare parts are available, adjusting and re-ordering as required.
- Provide support and technical knowledge to the Engineers, in order to rectify issues in-house with production equipment and escalate any fault or breakdown that you cannot deal with to the Engineering Manager to ensure that operational targets are adjusted or managed.
- Work closely with NFM Operational managers to ensure transparency of information relating to equipment downtime
- Performance reviews and management of Maintenance Team, providing feedback to enhance individual performance. Coaching and mentoring to enhance personal and professional development of your team
- Be a Health & Safety ambassador, ensuring safe working practises are a priority within your team and across the site.

- Skills required:
- Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship and ONC or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (HNC preferred)
- Strong people management experience, leading teams of 5+ people
- Demonstrable experience as a Maintenance Engineer with a manufacturing environment.
- PLC Experience
- Experience of installations, maintaining and troubleshooting of inverters, solenoids, servo drives, solenoids
- Experience of maintenance or repair of CNCs would be an advantage
- Experience of manging 3rd party contracts and budgets
- Excellent communication skills
