Job description
Videojet Technologies is a global leader in product identification providing innovative coding and marking solutions that helps customers ensure product safety and improve their productivity.
Within Your Team
Being part of a dynamic, highly motivated, multi-skilled, innovative team dedicated to the development of novel solutions to customer requirements. It’s an exciting environment working on new areas of technology to be included in future products. The team’s focus is primarily on the development of Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) technologies.
This is a Unique Opportunity to
Harness the power of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and other Multiphysics simulation tools to enhance the development of novel solutions to today’s product identification challenges. In this role you will become the resident simulations expert in the R&D department. With access to high-end computational resources, you will play a critical role in accelerating the next generation of inkjet technology. Your colleagues will look to you to help design faster and better; from individual components (e.g. heatsinks or fluid transport), to the multiple interacting physics of a challenging and complex system.
Within Your Role You Will:
Participate in Design reviews and DFMEA analysis of design concepts/prototypes to identify potential failure modes and improve the current design
Produce and analyse simulations of various physical systems and phenomena critical to CIJ systems. These may serve the purpose of helping to narrow design scope to the best solution, develop a better understanding of the physics underlying the system, or boost the confidence of a chosen design route.
Primarily use Ansys CFD simulation tools, however COMSOL Multiphysics is also in use within the company. Ideally both software packages with be employed as the need arises.
Play an active role in defining experiments and producing concept designs with the rest of the team.
Work closely with design engineers to develop an efficient workflow to turn CAD models into simulation domains
Critically analyse simulations and experimental data alongside engineers from a variety of disciplines.
Document key observations and numerical results using graphs, figures and text to convey the underlying physics predicted by simulation results.
Participate, and where necessary be responsible for, technical reviews, feasibility studies and project reviews as appropriate, and to provide/direct technical support for other departments, if required.
We are Looking for a Professional Who is:
Keen to take on ambitious simulation projects
A good communicator, somebody who can explain complexities of mathematical modelling to an audience of varied levels of understanding.
Results orientated, with a good practical mindset.
A self-starter, with a willingness to develop new skills and experience
Educaton and Experience Will Include:
A degree in Engineering, Physics or other relevant STEM subject
3+ years’ experience of finite element or finite volume modelling, primarily with CFD.
Familiarity with Ansys Fluent and/or COMSOL Multiphysics
Proven track record in producing simulations and analysis for real-world systems
Very strong understanding of fluid dynamics
Desirable:
Experience modelling any of the following:
Electrostatics
Thermal transfer
Convection/diffusion
Frequency domain modelling
Ultrasonics Two-phase modelling (VOF, Euler-Euler, etc.)
Species Transport
Familiarity with Solidworks or other CAD design tools
Understanding of Continuous Inkjet technology
Programming experience (e.g. Python, Matlab, C, C#, C++, etc.)
