Great Bear is a leading UK ambient 3PL business, providing nationwide contract logistics and shared user warehousing and distribution solutions for some of the biggest household names within the food and drink sector.
We are currently recruiting for a Shunter to join our fantastic team at our state-of-the-art Desborough site.
Working within the Transport Department the main purpose of the role is to ensure a smooth transition when loading, unloading trailers, and ensuring maintenance and safety at all times.
- Observing and adhering to company rules, site procedures and all aspects of Health & Safety and Hygiene at all times
- Effectively managing own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
- Liaising with colleagues and ensuring completion of shift report
- Conducting daily checks, immediately reporting any defects and / or damage and completing associated documentation
- Carrying out trailer checks on loaded trailers and report to ops staff
- Completing trailer checklist and reporting to operations desk
- Carrying out shunting duties including relevant maintenance and safety checks
- Liaising with the warehouse control and goods in staff to ensure smooth and efficient loading / unloading of trailers
- Completing vehicles downloads as per the company policy
- Monitoring services / MOTs – liaising with Transport Office and with service vendor
- Assisting with fuel delivery / manual dip of fuel
- Keeping yard in clean / tidy condition
- Liaising with Transport Office as and when required i.e. special promotions and / or livery schedules
- Manage the flow of traffic in and out of the yard.
