About us
Hereward Carpets Limited is a small business in Peterborough established in 1990. We specialise mostly in domestic carpets and flooring and aim to provide friendly and outstanding customer service to our established and new customers.
As carpet stockists, we have a large showroom where we keep and display a number of carpets on rolls and remnants aswell as many sample displays to choose and order from. We also sell other flooring types such as vinyl, laminate, LVT, and rugs.
JOB TITLE
Showroom Assistant/Salesperson (Full time but part time also considered)
SUMMARY
An opportunity to join a small family business (established in 1990) whose purpose/objective is to meet the flooring needs of the Peterborough and surrounding areas . Providing friendly and outstanding customer service to our established and new customers. This is a varied role and key duties will include cutting, rolling and lifting carpets, unloading deliveries, greeting customers and understanding their needs, demonstrating appropriate products/flooring solutions, calculating customer quotations and general showroom tidying.
Full time position is 40hrs per week and Saturdays will required on a Rota basis
28 days holiday per year (Including bank holidays)

Education
Good standard of education to include English and Maths

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Essential
- Ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally

- Have an approachable and polite manner
- Have handwriting that is legible

- Some Computer skills
- Work flexibly to meet the needs of the business
Desirable
- Current knowledge and experience in the carpet and flooring industry
- Ability to measure accurately
- Ability to follow a floor plan, diagram or written instruction
- Have a careful, methodical and accurate approach to the business/customer’s needs
- Full driving licence would be highly beneficial (ideally clean)
KEY DUTIES (Some of which will require training)
- Greet customers and answer enquiries about products, both face to face and via telephone
- Analyse customers needs and provide appropriate solutions
- Show customers samples and demonstrate the products, discuss prices and advise the customer on after-sales service, guarantees and delivery schedules
- Promote and sell Hereward Carpets products
- Anticipate potential problems and be proactive in developing solutions
- Deliver services in a manner that achieves a high level of customer service
- Accept payments for goods
- Provide assistance with incoming deliveries of carpets and flooring (including the unloading of large carpet rolls from delivery lorries)
- Cut carpet and other flooring to the required measurements for customer orders (this includes an element of manual lifting)
- Restock merchandise and ensure is presented neatly
- Provide assistance with outgoing deliveries of carpets to customers
- Change the visual display and promotional materials
- Provide assistance to carpet fitters if necessary
- Carry out other duties or support colleagues as necessary to fulfil the needs of the business
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 24-40 per week
Salary: £13,104.00-£22,000.00 per year
