Job description

Overview Secret Cinema has been thrilling audiences for 15 years, delivering deeply unforgettable experiences, fusing the world of cinema and site-specific immersive entertainment. Audiences get the chance to experience their favourite characters and stories in a whole new way, and with titles like Moulin Rouge!, Blade Runner and Dirty Dancing, attracting over half a million visitors in the past 5 years alone.

Secret Cinema are looking for a Show Producer to develop and deliver a new show at the end of 2023. Working within the overall project led by the Event Producer the Show Producer will have responsibility for the Show; taking the concept and creating a fertile environment to bring it to life; motivating people to collaborate, share expertise, and make things happen.

Key responsibilities

  • Overall
  • Hold overall responsibility for the show development, delivery and budget management, providing context and priorities
  • Understand the vision for the show as an audience experience, and its position in the marketplace
  • Identify and manage project risks
  • Commercial
  • Hold accountability for show delivery to budget:
  • Contracting and negotiation
  • Budgeting Production and Operating costs in collaboration with the Production Manager
  • Provide sound financial management across budgeting, forecasting, procurement, payments and reconciliation
  • Approve POs and sign contracts
  • Creative Collaboration
  • Contribute to and support creative development, considering practical and pragmatic factors
  • Provide firm and clear guidelines to the creative team and hold them to account
  • Management & Leadership
  • Devise show delivery strategy, and confidently motivate and lead the full production team to execute it
  • Recruitment & Resourcing
  • Plan and coordinate all required resources to deliver the show;
  • Recruitment, negotiation, supplier management, and contracting
  • Ensure all team members effectively and efficiently onboarded
  • Line Manage and develop project team members, in particular the production team
  • Planning & Delivery
  • Hold accountability for show compliance, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding (as relevant) and aligning with industry best practice
  • Work to ensure the inclusivity of the Show, for audiences and teams alike
  • Devise sustainable and efficient show operation practices
  • Solve problems and lead crisis recovery as required
  • Communication & Learning
  • Successfully manage and navigate complex relationships, often with competing objectives
  • Represent Secret Cinema and the project
  • Broadcast project updates in a timely manner to relevant internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to the project debrief


Key Skills & Experience (Essential)


Experience
  • Substantial experience of large-scale live productions as Producer, with a demonstrable record of on-time delivery to budget
  • Strategic planning for project delivery
  • Negotiating and contracting suppliers and partners
  • Problem solving in a live environment
  • Project management, including day-to-day task management and delegation
  • Experience facilitating and collaborating with creative teams
  • Experience working with demanding external stakeholders

Skills
  • Strong instincts on what is key to the audience experience when creating events
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills including ability to secure the best deals for the project
  • Excellent project management skills; highly focussed and organised, and able to grasp and wrestle with complex challenges
  • Thorough understanding of the H&S regulations surrounding events of scale and a proven track record of delivering events safely
  • Sound judgement and a proven ability to manage and be comfortable with a dynamically changing environment.
  • Excellent budgeting and IT skills, including Excel/Sheets

  • Wide network of suppliers, talent, artists and vendors across all mediums
  • Experience activating and re-purposing sites for public use
  • Experience of or exposure to building construction projects
  • Qualifications including First Aid and Safety Management
