Position Summary
The Commercial Development Team (CDT) have a fantastic opportunity for a Shopper Marketing Lead to join the team, based in York. You will lead a supportive team where you will have a total of 16 direct and indirect reports who share the value of open communication to generate impact and return towards our common goals. You will be bringing value-adding partnerships to NUK&I Confectionery customers by leading the creation and implementation of Shopper campaigns in retail and digital environments that make shoppers buy more of our brands through delivery of category, channel and customers goals.

Working both independently and cross functionally within the Confectionery category, you will be responsible for overseeing the shopper and trade communications within the communications frameworks of our brands, to support the strategic category goals of the wider business.
A day in the life of a Shopper Marketing Manager
In this role, you will shape and deliver Confectionery shopper objectives, targets, and investment prioritisation to deliver maximum return.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide shopper marketing leadership and ensure effective working relationships with Sales, Marketing and Commercial Development Team (CDT)
  • Shape and evolve the annual Shopper Marketing strategy whilst support the CDT Director in developing the future year strategy ensuring alignment between marketing and customer/channel strategies
  • Develop detailed understanding of customer and channel marketing strategy, goals and calendar. Use this understanding to proactively identify opportunities to align with customer events and strategies and ensuring local implementation of brand strategies across customers in line with agreed brand priorities and media plans
  • Translate the marketing calendar to deliver the annual activation calendar across all channels/customers to boost Nestle brands visibility, execute below the line activity, and grow NUK Confectionery market share
  • Manage all trade comms and ensure they fit with brand, category, and corporate guidelines
  • Work alongside Sales and CDT Operations Lead to ensure all performance metrics are on track with corrective actions as required
  • Lead the identification of future innovation, thinking and best practices relating Shopper Marketing alongside Insight and Category Planning leading to identification of test and learn opportunities within key customers
  • Manage the selection relationships and performance of external agencies including shopper marketing and field sales
  • Coaching and developing the Shopper Marketing team

Key to this role will be your ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders; and to energise and engage the business behind the wider impact of shopper marketing.

You’ll also have:
  • An understanding of brand strategy and communications approaches
  • Experience in people and team management
  • Broader commercial awareness of our customers and our category strategy
  • A strong understanding of the retail environment in-store and online and the ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • The ability to constructively assess messaging and creative to ensure it is optimised to engage and drive behaviour change with both shoppers and customers.
  • A demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and manage results to often tight deadlines.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills at all levels, both up and down the organisation to enhance integration of shopper within the total communications and media mix.
  • Passionate about building strong relationships and delivering excellence in results.
