We’re currently recruiting for a new locum opportunity based in the Midlands region . You will be working as a Locum SHO Pediatrics and neonates , for an NHS Trust and for private hospitals. For this role the individual must have relevant previous experience working in this type of position.
Over 6 months experience in the NHS
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.

Job Description:
The Pediatric Senior House Officer (SHO) is a medical professional specializing in pediatric care. This role involves the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of infants, children, and adolescents, while working closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide comprehensive care. The Pediatric SHO plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of pediatric patients and contributing to their overall health and development.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough medical assessments of pediatric patients, including physical examinations and medical histories, to formulate accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
Diagnosis and Treatment: Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for a wide range of pediatric conditions, including acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and developmental issues.
Monitoring and Follow-up: Continuously monitor the progress of patients under care, adjust treatment plans as needed, and provide ongoing support and education to patients and their families.
Procedures and Interventions: Perform common pediatric procedures, such as vaccinations, wound care, venipuncture, lumbar punctures, and other necessary interventions.
Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including pediatricians, nurses, therapists, and social workers, to ensure holistic patient care.
Medical Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, examination findings, treatment plans, and progress notes.
Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, their families, and caregivers to provide information, address concerns, and offer guidance on managing pediatric health conditions.
Education and Training: Participate in the education and training of medical students, junior doctors, and other healthcare staff as appropriate.
Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the pediatric department and adhere to clinical guidelines and best practices.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Medical Degree: A medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited institution is required.
Registration: Full registration with the appropriate medical council or board in the relevant jurisdiction is mandatory.
Postgraduate Training: Completion of a foundation year or internship, followed by specific training in pediatrics, is essential. Certification or eligibility for certification by relevant pediatric specialty boards is advantageous.
Clinical Experience: Prior experience in pediatric medicine through internships, residencies, or previous roles is highly preferred.
Pediatric Skills: Proficiency in pediatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, including the ability to perform common pediatric procedures, is essential.
Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with children, parents, and colleagues.

Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment, making quick and informed decisions when necessary.
