Job description

We are recruiting a Shift Lead within the Blow Moulding Department at Muller Manchester to enable the team to deliver targets and continuously improve performance by coaching and developing our people.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • To ensure all procedures and processes relating to debagging, bottle production & supply are correctly adhered to at all times.
  • Implement procedures for the operation of the Munchy/Granulator system, ensuring the correct work instructions are adhered to when transporting, disposing of waste flake, granules and purgings. Additionally record the material usage/throughput of the system.
  • Enhance the supply / loading standards on site by reducing supply down time levels, improving labour utilisation, load effectiveness and develop the skill levels on the site.
  • Through challenging and empowering your team make continuous improvements to the standard of plant housekeeping to reach world class manufacturing standards.
  • Involve all employees in the running of the business through coaching, briefings, team meetings, action teams etc.
  • Work with the HR Advisor to monitor and control absence levels within the team.
  • To communicate and implement consistently all company and management directives in a standard form across the shifts.
  • Play an active role in communicating and driving employee involvement and engagement through coaching others in the behaviours which promote the company values.
  • Support the effective running of the warehouse and supply as and when required.
  • To attend work out with contractual hours as necessary to fulfil the needs of the role
  • To be proficient in the use of all systems and applications which are relevant to your role.

Muller Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the company health and safety policy is adhered to in the plant.
  • In conjunction with the HR Advisor conduct any personnel matters that may arise, these may involve disciplinary, grievance and attendance management.
  • Manage, develop and coach all members of your team, supporting succession planning via the identification and development of key personnel.
  • Liaise with other departments and members of the site management team. ensuring effective communication takes place in order to optimise the overall performance of the site and the business as a whole.
  • To liaise with the Manufacturing Manager regarding the performance of our products.
  • As part of the Site Management Team suggest, initiate and progress any changes to working practices or new projects as deemed to be in the interests of enhancing the plant performance and effectiveness.
  • In the absence of the Manufacturing Manager conduct all Warehouse related stock takes on a daily basis and again at month end.
  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager analyse and report on all product supply interruptions, including the reporting of all Dairy filler down time. Ensure all relevant documentation is completed and Company standards and procedures are adhered to.

Demonstrable skills, experience and knowledge within the following:

  • Ability to communicate and build effective working relationships at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate a flexible, hands-on results orientated approach.
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Previous supervisory/man management experience
