Great Bear is a leading 3rd party UK logistics business providing nationwide dedicated and shared user warehousing and distribution.
We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Shift Supervisor on a full time, permanent contract based at our Chorley site.
Shift:
- Shift pattern: rotating 6-2 / 2-10 any 5 from 7 normally Monday to Friday
Salary:
- £26,500 per annum
As a Shift Supervisor you will contribute to the success of the site by supporting the Shift Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring all aspects of Health & Safety within the Warehouse are maintained and product is picked and dispatched to the highest standard in order to meet contractual KPI’s.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring that Health & Safety is ‘No1 on the agenda’ aligned with the overall site and business goals and guidelines.
- Manage and motivate the shift team in order to ensure that productivity and service KPI’s are achieved or exceeded.
- Deliver communication briefings so that all shifts are aware of all Company and local issues and employees are able to offer input / improvements and feel involved.
- Develop all team members so that their contributions to the Warehouse can be maximised and succession plan.
- Carry out disciplinary / grievance interviews and investigations in line with Company procedure.
- Monitor and control sickness absence levels in line with Company policy and carry out return to work interviews effectively and efficiently.
- Monitor and control time and attendance system.
- To offer regular feedback, formal and informal, on team and individual performance, including behavioural issues and highlighting good performance and areas for further development.
- Labour planning, by ensuring the appropriate levels of overtime and agency workers to efficiently and cost effectively run the shift.
- Enforce and adhere all Company policies and procedures.
- Support Shift Operations Manager in any all aspects of the operation.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement.

- Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- Should have good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, conciliation skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines.
- Working knowledge of WMS systems would be useful but not essential.
- Experience in a packing, or e-commerce operation would be advantageous.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of detail.
- PC Literate in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
