Shift Operations Manager

GSK are recruiting for a Shift Operations Manager to join them at the site in Irvine on a full-time and permanent basis.

The is an on-site role, which will require 12-hour day and night shifts with some additional flexibility required when work permits.

As Shift Operations Manager who will get the opportunity to work in a fast paced, challenging but rewarding pharmaceutical manufacturing environment supporting to produce high quality medicines. You will work cross-functionally and be responsible for managing a large team, providing day to day support, and driving their development.

Job Purpose

To provide leadership for all the site operator teams and manage the site production processes on a shift by shift basis in a safe and compliant manner driving continuous improvement to deliver business goals.

In this role you will…

Oversee all operations activities to ensure that required standards and procedures are understood and complied with. Using the GPS standards (5S, performance management, root cause analysis, problem solving and standard work) to embed a continuous improvement culture within operations which drives the business forward. Incident controller as required for the site. Work cross functionally with other departments on the site to ensure problems are resolved quickly and business goals are achieved. Ensure EHS compliance is assured and drive compliance commensurate with the risk profile for the site. Provide management control over-all high-risk activity (normal and abnormal) using processes such as WRA, frequent/infrequent task book audits plus issuing and maintaining high level of permits to work control. Balance team resources to ensure output targets are met without compromising compliance and maintaining control on the overtime budget. Chair and facilitate shift meeting such as regular start of shift meetings with the team, compliance meetings and general communication sessions. Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Significant relevant process knowledge
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent in managing safety
  • Ability to manage and lead teams
  • Experience of authorising any plant activity assuming it complies within current procedures such as permit to work. A risk assessment would be expected to be done prior to authorization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HND/Degree qualification in appropriate discipline
  • Experience of developing and supervising negotiated staff including leading and initiating any performance management and/or disciplinary activity and be involved with any grievances.
  • Permit to Work issuer accreditation
  • Experience in the use of CI tools
