The Deeside site, which is based in Sandycroft are currently searching for an accomplished, professional, highly motivated Shift Manager to join its team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a thriving, fast paced environment for a company that continues to remain at the forefront of their industry. As such, our Deeside operation is looking for a candidate with a genuine desire to succeed as well as drive improvements in operational effectiveness and safe work practices.
The main purpose of the role is to ensure key business standards relating to operational processes and outputs, whilst leading through example, safely and with passion. The ideal candidate for this role will have a natural tenacity to drive and deliver against KPI’s whilst leading and motivating a multi-disciplined team to be the best they can.
Main Tasks
- Support the Production Manager in the day to day running of the production operation, assisting with the scheduling and supervision of activities of the team;
- Support the management of staffing levels and the process for controlling holidays as well as ensuring accurate record keeping and all departments are aware of the resources available;
- Ensure production always operates to maximise efficiency, minimise cost, and safeguard safety and quality;
- Ensure team members on shift are trained to perform the expected tasks and the sign-off documentation is completed and verified;
- Leading a team, motivating the operators to achieve targets and have the correct values and beliefs whilst building and fostering a team environment across all shifts within the operation;
- Clearly communicating performance daily and hourly targets in a professional and focused manner;
- Working collaboratively with various teams including Engineering, Quality, H & S, Logistics and HR to deliver and sustain optimum production efficiency;
- Deliver production requirements as close to the Production Plan priorities as possible and to justify deviations from that Plan;
- To ensure that manufacturing achieves planned productivity targets in line with quality demands, whilst ensuring that all factory and site equipment, energy, labour and raw materials are effectively used;
- To control direct and indirect costs within the factory as effectively as possible to ensure costs provide benefits;
- Actively focus on delivery of set KPI's and sustainability of performance; ensure accurate data recording;
- Deliver positive improvement within OEE - Availability/performance/Quality actions;
- Ensure compliance with the company’s Health & Safety policy and procedures through safe systems of work and practices, good housekeeping and the provision of information and training to the shift team members to ensure total safety awareness;
- Managing direct reports and using performance management framework to develop operators as business requirements;
- Ensuring that all necessary laws and compliance standards (both statutory and our internal standards) are complied with;
- Interfacing with the Quality Department as appropriate to ensure all QC procedures are adhered to through the teams;
- Assume full responsibility for site security and all on-going Health & Safety issues and prescribed requirements when on site;
- Promote local targets and strategies for continual improvement in Health & Safety effectiveness in order to encourage ownership at all levels of the organisation.
Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
- Be ambitious, driven and have extensive knowledge of Manufacturing and Operations, ideally from the Plastics industry;
- A dynamic, proactive individual who possesses strong intellect, good analytical skills and demonstrates the ability to make decisions and empower people to drive actions forward;
- Be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills an excellent knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes. Importantly you will have previous experience as a Manufacturing professional;
- Experienced in culture change; a proven track record of implementing change and driving process improvements whilst managing complex teams in a fast paced, dynamic environment;
- Passionate about all things operational - safety, operational excellence, quality, people development and organisational development;
- Strong people management skills inclusive of coaching and mentoring;
- Excellent organisational skills, communication and interpersonal skills;
- Exceptional IT Skills.
Location:
The successful candidate will be based at the Sandycroft site in Deeside.
Working arrangements:
Working hours: rotating shift pattern over 7 days working 4 shifts on, (2 days, 2 nights), 4 shifts off rotating pattern – 12 hour shifts.
