We are looking for a Shift Manager to join our growing Production team, providing leadership to the production teams across all shifts and responsible for the deployment of production plans to deliver on time, and within budget while maintaining quality standards. The Shift Manager, will manage a team of skilled operators, optimise production processes, meet production targets, and deliver high-quality products efficiently.
What you’ll be doing as our Shift Manager:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement plans to achieve production goals and meet operational targets. Assess the current performance of production, identify areas for improvement, and create strategies to optimize productivity and efficiency.
- Production Management: Coordinate and manage the production process to ensure smooth operations. Oversee the scheduling, sequencing, and monitoring of production activities to meet customer demands while maintaining quality standards. Implementing lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Resource Management: Responsible for managing and optimising resources, including labour, equipment, materials, and utilities. Ensure that the plant has adequate staffing levels, proper training programs, and efficient utilization of equipment and materials to meet production targets and control costs.
- Quality Control: Enforce quality control standards to ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations. Establish quality assurance procedures, monitor product quality throughout the production process, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Health and Safety: Responsible for creating and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, implement safety policies and procedures, conduct regular safety inspections, and promote a culture of safety awareness among the workforce. Monitor production health and safety KPI’s (PI, near miss, Accidents & LTI) and that robust action plans are in place to drive improvement.
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to their teams. Recruit, train, and motivate employees, set performance expectations, and foster a positive work culture. Promote teamwork, resolve conflicts, and encourage professional development within the plant.
- Communication and Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between different departments and stakeholders within the organisation. Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, procurement, and other teams to ensure smooth coordination of activities. Communicate production updates, performance metrics, and other relevant information to upper management.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and efficiency. Analyse operational data, identify bottlenecks or areas of improvement, and implement process optimisation strategies to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
