We have a rare opportunity for a Logistics Manager to join our International Supply Chain Team. This role will work in partnership with our 3PL to set up a new site within the M&S Clothing & Home International network in the European Union (EU). The site will service M&S Ecomm orders for customers within the EU and our Market Place business.

NB: This position will be based at our Paddington Support Office although frequent travel to Poland will be required.

An overview of what you'll be involved in:

Pre-site is opening (due August 2024):

  • lead the operational work stream for the planning and launch of the M&S EDC. Working with our 3PL partner, to ensure the site is operationally ready for the planned opening and transition dates, including site fit out, end to end system and operational design and testing
  • Managing the transition of stock and operational into the depot over a defined period of time. Ensuring reviews are completed, findings are gathered and operational improvements are made as required
  • Complete the project within the defined budget. Ensuring operationally it is able to run at the agreed cost base while achieving all service critical metrics

Once the site is open:

  • Build and maintain a strong, collaborative relationship with the 3PL operating the site. Acting as the day-to-day operational logistics contact for internal and external business partners. Making and implementing operational decisions, always balancing cost and service
  • Ensure that warehouse operations are safe, legal and aligned with all legislative/M&S requirements. ensuring standards are developed and maintained
  • Set clear Key Performance Indicators for the warehouses and own the operational performance of all warehouses ensuring operational measures are delivered.
  • Set the annual budget and manage the operation within this with the 3PL. Own the delivery of the three-year plan for the site, with the aim to build capacity, reduce cost and improve customer service
  • Work with the 3PL to minimise stock inaccuracy at all stages through effective process management and adherence seeking out errors and process gaps, and work to ensure any “rogue” stock is resolved in the shortest possible timescales

We are looking for someone who has Warehouse Ecomm Operations experience including Direct to end customer (D2C) and working with 3PL's to help us set up and run our new site in Poland. They will bring with them knowledge of what is required to deliver a first class delivery operation using the relevant technology and how and when it’s appropriate to use. In addition the will need to have:

  • The ability to thrive in a pressured environment which values fast, impactful delivery. Who can develop and improve an operation over time driving operational improvements and cost savings
  • An excellent communicator, with the ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats across all levels of our business. Presenting information and proposals in a professional, structured and persuasive way, eliminating ambiguity
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities in the warehouse(s) to optimise cost, service and safety. Working collaboratively with the on site team to deliver this and ensure a culture of continuous improvement is embedded
