Shift Manager AM Stead House Dunstable

Role Purpose:
A Shift Manager supports the Distribution Centre Manager with the daily management of all site operations, leading a team within a designated area of the Distribution Centre. A passion for results will ensure that all specified standards are maintained if not exceeded, ensuring resources are planned and controlled. Working as “One Team” to ensure that operational efficiencies are identified and maximised and within agreed budgets and timescales; Leading Growth & Innovation within the team, utilising appropriate resource and safe working practices; to be an ambassador to help create a Supply Chain that makes our customer smile!

A typical day in this role includes:
Coach and develop colleagues, ensuring regular reviews are conducted, implementing and endorsing all agreed training and development plans
Drive site development through continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
Engage all operations across the DC to ensure that they are working in a collaborative manner with each other, to provide the optimum output, review the necessity for corrective actions where required
Collaborate with Business Key Stakeholders to optimise all DC activities and its interface with its other areas of the operation; for example Transport, Stores and Supply Chain
Provide a comprehensive shift handover to the appropriate Shift Manager
Take a strong commercial focus with direct management of the targeted budget cost for your shift, ensuring the successful delivery of KPI’s; to contribute towards business strategy
Role model a site culture that demonstrates our company values
Be an ambassador for driving good heath & safety practices across the site
Driving and leading, ad hoc projects and reports where required
Conduct site and team briefings where required
Deputise as the Operations Manager when required
Working flexibly to meet the demands of the business
Manage employee misconduct by chairing Investigation and Disciplinary meetings when required
Work alongside HR to manage employee absence
Work closely with the Transport Team to optimise the DC activity and its interface with transport/warehouse operations

What you’ll need:
Excellent people management skills
Proven senior management experience within a DC environment or similar
Drive continuous improvement
Strong project management and multitasking skills to enable management of a range of activities across different and potentially conflicting timescales
Excellent analytical and IT skills
Sound knowledge of cost reports, budgets and operational efficiencies, including cost management
