PURPOSE OF THE POST:

To lead and inspire the dynamic Convenience team, overseeing the entire process from meat preparation to high care and packing. This pivotal role involves fostering seamless communication and collaboration among various departments, including Intake, Despatch, Planning, and QA/Technical, ensuring a harmonious flow of operations.

By upholding the highest standards of Food Safety, Quality, Health & Safety, Customer Service, and Profitability, this role plays a crucial part in maintaining Oscar Mayer's stellar reputation. A key responsibility is to ensure that our team members are well-trained and adequately supported. With good planning, you will ensure a smooth operation and make sure the department is adequately resourced sufficiently at all times whilst taking into account holidays, training, and instances of sickness.

As a valued member of the 'Out of Hours' Management team, this role shares overall responsibility for the entire site and staff, even in unforeseen circumstances. This demonstrates our commitment to providing a secure and reliable work environment for our team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Technical Excellence:

  • Ensuring strict adherence to technical compliance, including the management of Critical Control Points and maintaining weight control and traceability to meet legal requirements.
  • Upholding product quality standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure consistent excellence.
  • Implementing robust traceability measures to ensure full accountability throughout the production process.

Safety and Efficiency:

  • Establishing and maintaining safe systems of work to safeguard the well-being of our employees.
  • Conducting regular reviews of equipment and processes to identify areas for improvement and enhance safety measures.
  • Ensuring all team members are trained to undertake the roles they are doing and work in a safe and efficient manner.

Optimizing Convenience Labour:

  • Enhancing labour levels and maximising staff utilisation and performance, including effective management of overtime and downtime.
  • Promptly reporting and addressing machinery faults, actively minimising downtime through proactive measures.
  • Striving for performance levels that exceed industry standards and investigating any losses to identify and address root causes effectively.

Streamlining Material Control:

  • Continuously improving existing systems to minimise waste in convenience material variances and control.
  • Ensuring efficient stock control of raw materials, cooked materials, and finished goods.
  • Maintaining positive variances in materials and conducting comprehensive investigations into any losses to determine underlying causes.

Team Training and Development:

  • Maintaining up-to-date training standards, in conjunction with the training team, to ensure the correct skill mix within the team.

Effective Interdepartmental Communication:

  • Facilitating seamless and effective communication with other departments, fostering collaboration and synergy as needed for successful operations.

'Out of Hours' Management Team:

  • Demonstrating leadership in emergency situations, including managing fire alarms, evacuation procedures, and maintaining accurate registers.
  • Handling unannounced visits, accidents, investigations, and ensuring prompt notifications through the Be Safe system.

Customer Service and Quality Focus:

  • Prioritising exceptional customer service by ensuring that products meet the highest quality standards and consistently exceed customer expectations.
  • Collaborating with the customer service team to address any customer inquiries, concerns, or feedback, and taking prompt action to resolve issues and maintain customer satisfaction.

Team Member Training, Safety and Well-being:

  • Maintaining up-to-date training standards, in conjunction with the training team, to ensure the correct skill mix within the team.
  • Upholding a strong commitment to team member safety by maintaining safe systems of work, conducting regular safety audits, and implementing proactive measures to mitigate potential risks.
  • Encouraging a culture of safety awareness and providing ongoing training and support to ensure all team members are equipped with the knowledge and resources to prioritise their own safety and that of their colleagues.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Exhibit exceptional communication skills, demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels within the organisation.
  • Consistently deliver clear and concise written and verbal communications, ensuring that information is conveyed accurately and efficiently.
  • Possess strong computer literacy, proficient in utilising various software and demonstrating a solid understanding of basic functions.
  • Display flexibility regarding working hours, readily adapting to changes at short notice when necessary to meet operational demands.
  • Show proficiency in multiple factory tasks, providing valuable working support as needed
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities by effectively guiding and developing team members to foster a high-performing and cohesive work environment.
  • Proactively identify and nurture potential successors within the team, providing mentorship and growth opportunities to develop future leaders.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
