This part-time (15.5 hours per week) post is available immediately on a fixed-term basis until 31 July 2024.
Summary of the role
Shelving Assistants are vital in the provision of an excellent library experience. The role involves collecting, sorting, repairing and re shelving library materials, assisting with stock moves and providing general advice to our users. The job involves regular manual lifting and movement of stock on trolleys.
Ideally applicants will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent and have relevant work experience, in a customer facing environment. We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic people with excellent interpersonal skills to join the library team. The successful candidate will be computer literate and able to demonstrate strong team working and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy.
The vacancy is primarily based at the Forum Library, Streatham campus, though work at other libraries may be required.
The hours of work will ideally be Monday 9:00 – 12:00, Tuesday 9:00 – 12:00, Wednesday 9 – 12:00, Thursday 9:00 – 12:00 and Friday 9:00 – 12:30, 15.5 hours per week, although there could be some flexibility here. There may be a requirement to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
