The post holder will work as part of the multisite community based multidisciplinary team to support comprehensive nursing and medical interventions within the sexual health services and will work closely with other staff across all disciplines to facilitate continuity of care 7 days a week. They will deliver patient care under supervision and oversee the maintenance of a therapeutic environment to enable good patient experience. The post holder will competently deliver asymptomatic testing clinics, processing test samples in accordance with local policy and perform venepuncture when required. To chaperone qualified colleagues when necessary, during intimate examination procedures. To test identified symptomatic patients for sexually transmitted infections before clinical consultation to the agreed local pathway. Be able to perform microscopy following training. Work across the NMUH sites as needed and support clinic service development such as evening and weekend and out-reach service provision. Register identified patients onto the electronic patient records system. Support the wider multidisciplinary team members through the embodiment of the Trust Values Delivery of Care. Be competent to obtain and process the correct and appropriate samples including blood. Maintain a safe and clean environment in line with infection control and risk policies. Use medical equipment safely and competently and report faults promptly. Assist in the preparation and examination of patients and the accurate collection, storage and processing of specimens when assisting. Perform pregnancy tests, urinalysis, phlebotomy and vital sign recording and reporting competently. Provide care with due regard and respect to the patient’s customs, culture and preferences. Clear accurate documentation of all interventions in line with local and Trust policy. Adhere to the uniform policy dress code. Actively develop skills and knowledge base in sexual health and HIV. Be competent in interpreting appropriate results accurately in line with local guidelines, reporting abnormalities and referring to a qualified professional as indicated. Be competent in condom demonstration and competently sign-up patients from target groups to the free condom scheme. Maintain confidentiality in line with the Venereal Diseases Act 1974 and Information Governance. Accurately report information gained to the clinician caring for the patient that informs their care and clinical decisions. Be prepared to develop the role as the service requires across sites.
