About Our Opportunity
Under general supervision from the Legal Services Coordinator, Co-op students are responsible for providing effective and efficient legal support to the solicitors of the Legal Services Division. Responsibilities include administrative duties, preparation of legal documents and correspondence, conducting research, record and process documentation, adhere to policies and processes and maintain filing systems. As a Co op Student with us you will work as part of a close-knit team and gain keen insight into how a government law office functions.
Who You Are
You are a full-time business or law student registered in a co-operative education program and returning to school in Summer 2023 or Winter 2023.
You are a team player who can work with minimal supervision, an excellent researcher, with keen analytical and organizational skills. You are passionate about communication and love collaborating across roles whether it be with a senior leader or a colleague. You love using new equipment and software's.

Working Environment
- Dynamic legal office environment sitting in a modular desk unit with up to 2 colleagues in same general area.
- Considerable periods of time sitting at desk interspersed with movement to and from printers, file storage areas or to deposit/retrieve mail. At times, required to bend and lift file boxes from storage shelving and transport to review area.
- Regular need to read and analyze information and significant time focusing on a computer monitor.
- Must balance multiple priorities and the demand for accuracy and attention to detail in the preparation of legal documents requires acute concentration and for some may increase physical and mental stress.
- The nature of the work in some files may exposes staff to disturbing images or content.
- May be required to work overtime on occasion

Please note, this is a co-op student position based in Halifax for fall term (September-December 2023). The anticipated start date/end date of the positions are fall term September 1 - Dec 29, 2023.

Pay Grade: HOURLY
Salary Range: $14.90 - $28.12 Hourly
