Job description
Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Service Manager within the Safeguarding Team to work full time based in Luton.
The salary for this permanent Service Manager job is up to £70,125per annum.
Main duties:
- Social Care is an area of rapid change and the department is required to respond to government initiatives and changes in legislation, which often requires multi-agency implementation. The policy drive from central and local government promotes closer working with other agencies: the expectation is that all service developments are co-ordinated across the Council, Health Service, Voluntary and Private Sectors.
- The post holder is responsible for the strategic planning and delivery of assessment, and support planning services for children & adults. There is separate service support for adults & children whose primary need is a learning disability or mental ill health. However, the post holder will need to agree care packages submitted by the externally commissioned service for agreement and so a sound understanding of the Mental Health Act will be necessary.
- The post carries line management responsibility for a number of care management teams which consist of a range of staff including social workers, occupational therapists and sensory impairment workers. As the service moves towards a more integrated model of delivery the workforce is likely to reflect this and so the post holder will need to be able to manage staff from a range of professional backgrounds.
- To manage the Adult Social Care Assessment, and Care Planning Team and associated budgets, ensuring that the work is delivered to a high standard and within the nationally determined timescales.
- To assist the Service Director for Social Care in the delivery of service priorities. Promote individualised options for care provision and ensure adults & children at risk are protected from harm.
Requirements of this Service Manager:
- CQSW, DipSW, BA Social Work of equivalent professional qualification.
- Management qualification
- Substantial experience of preparing and managing large and complex budgets and involvement in policy development and planning processes.
- At least 1 years’ experience of supervising professional staff.
- Knowledge of relevant childcare legislation.
- Ability to travel independently to all required areas by the job’s responsibilities.
