Service Manager Required for Company based in Northamptonshire
Job Purpose
The purpose of this position is to ensure the smooth management of the company’s service and maintenance function, ensuring the maximum uptime of all equipment at best value, thereby enhancing the overall customer experience.
The position requires liaison with the sales team, operations department, external contractors, our Clients own service crew and the customers to ensure that the company’s plant and equipment is fit for purpose.
Key to this will be the management of the service team - efficient scheduling of their our own service resources and effective use of external contractors to ensure right first time response to breakdowns and the delivery of effective preventative maintenance routines and service schedules.
This position will have budget responsibility to ensure that service budgets – parts, sub contractors and payroll, are achieved in line with budget profiles.
Scope of Job
There are a number of elements to this position, all of which are to be carried out in accordance with the established ISO and other procedures.
- Management of service team – both employed and subcontracted
- Response to breakdowns
- Planned maintenance routines for all equipment
- Budget management
- RIDDOR and incident investigation and reporting
Some of these elements may be delegated and others may carry out the day to day function of the position.
This position will require attendance on site both to liaise with customers and to carry out necessary service/breakdown tasks.
Plant Management
- Responsibility to ensure to the routine maintenance of plant including pre site servicing
- Ensuring that all plant is maintained in the proper manner making it fit for purpose.
- Allocation of engineers to particular jobs as required
- Front line management of the service crew and resources
- Provision of first line technical support register calls, resolve where possible, pass to relevant personnel, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Attending on site in response to breakdown calls and resolving same
- Maintenance of calibration, certification and service records
- Compliance with all health and safety and other systems in line with ISO procedures
- Preparation of Preventative Maintenance schedules for all kit
- Management of the delivery of PM routines for all kit in line with budget
- Incident Investigation and reporting
- Investigation of all on site incident and completion of their own internal reports and procedures
- Completion of RIDDOR reports where appropriate
- Liaising with and managing external resources in investigating incidents where appropriate
- Review of all incidents and development of procedural & training initiatives to prevent recurrence. • Maintenance of OHS records as necessary
Admin duties
- Issuing certificates for all Equipment and ancillary equipment
- Maintenance of equipment files (yellow lever arch files)
- Scheduling of engineers
- Maintenance of service records
- Maintenance of breakdown log
Other
To support the management team with the implementation of the company’s commercial procedures
This position is part of a small tightly knit team and duties will change to reflect the workload.
Location: Based in Rushden, however on occasion travel will be necessary, both to our office in Durham and to customer sites as required.
For the first six months, it shall be a Field based role, travelling nationwide for training purposes.
Training: Induction to training will be provided as appropriate to familiarise with our products, services and procedures.
On completion of the initial training period the job holder will:
- Familiar with the company’s systems and procedures
- Have undergone formal induction training
- Have a detailed knowledge of all the company’s products
- Be competent to operate the various computer programmes
- Have had exposure to service and sales departments as part of the familiarisation process.
The company is committed to developing performance through training. Further training will be provided to address identified training needs, but you will be expected to contribute to this process and bring forward proposals as part of your own personal professional development.
Key Attributes: This position requires a high level of inter-personal skills and an ability to influence and negotiate both internally and externally.
Previous experience of construction plant or similar is necessary together with a technical ability – electrical, hydraulic & mechanical.
Previous experience resource scheduling Project management & Man Management is desirable.
Hours: 8am to 17.30pm Mon – Thurs
8am to 16.30pm Fri
Very occasional Weekend Working
Salary: £40k to £45k
The successful candidate must be able to commute daily to Rushden.
