Why LNER?
Our vision is to be the most loved, progressive and responsible way to travel for generations to come, and we're looking for the people who can deliver this, every day.
Since we took over the East Coast route, we've been changing the face of travel. Our new fleet of Azuma trains are delivering faster journey times, more space, comfort and greater reliability. Our exciting plans to embrace new ideas, experiences, backgrounds and ambitions make this the ideal time to join. We were the first and are currently the only franchised rail operator to achieve customer numbers back to pre-pandemic levels and we are leading the charge to transform rail through digital and customer focussed innovation.
Bringing passion. Being bold. Always caring. Owning it. They're the values that make us LNER.
Are you on board?
What you'll be doing:
As a Senior Data Analyst you will play a crucial role in delivering a variety of projects which will generate revenue, reduce costs, create brand new insight or deliver workplace efficiencies.
Acting as the bridge between data and the business, you will gather stakeholder requirements and ask the right questions to understand the core issue. You will scope out the problem, deliver suitable outcomes and manage stakeholders throughout the project. As part of this role you will also act as a coach to the junior members of the team, be technical leads for the department and remain curious about new technology, industry developments and best practice guidance.
In the Senior Data Analyst role you will be able to manage workloads and plan your work to meet internal client expectations. This role would suit those who have strong attention to detail and the ability to be agile in their working practices, moving projects swiftly to meet the current demands of the business.
You will manage the end-to-end process for analytics projects, including project scoping, data gathering, ETL processing, visualisation, analysis, storytelling and feeding back to stakeholders.
What you'll need:
To be our Senior Data Analyst you should have the following competencies and skills:
- Extensive data analysis experience in a commercial setting.
- Strong knowledge of Tableau (preferred) or another data visualisation tool like Power BI.
- Experience of using a data processing tool such as Alteryx (preferred), AWS Glue, SQL or Python.

- Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to build relationships across the business and wider industry.
- Highly adept and persuasive communicator, with an ability to produce presentations and articulate complex matters in a simple and effective way to a range of stakeholders.
- Experience within management roles and the ability to mentor junior members of the team in order to upskill and transfer knowledge.
In addition to the above, any of these would be a bonus
- Experience connecting to databases such as AWS.
- Hands on experience with Power Automate, Google Analytics or Google Big Query.
- Experience with HR data analysis, financial data analysis or website data analysis.
- Knowledge of the rail industry or the leisure/transport sector.
