Job description
As a Service Assistant you will ensure our visitors have a great experience visiting the House at Wallington; projecting a friendly, helpful and approachable image of the National Trust. You will have a flexible customer focused approach to meet the varying needs of our audiences and be part of a team delivering expectational service.
This is for 12 hours a week, on a fixed term contract until January 2024. We are in a remote location, being 20 minute drive from Ponteland and Morpeth. Please check how you would commute before applying, as public transport is very limited.

Wallington is set in the middle of Northumberland approximately twenty miles north-west of the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. The House, at the south end of an estate which extends to nearly 13,500 acres, is surrounded by parkland and arable farmland. In its glorious countryside setting Wallington survives, one of the great estates of the north, owned by a single family, loved and embellished by succeeding owners for nine generations.
Wallington is home to a collection of over 18,000 objects which include a variety of items such as art, natural history, books and an internationally important ceramic collection.
What you'll be doing:Visitors are a vital part of what we do, as a Service Assistant it’s your role to ensure that the first and last impression our visitors receive in the House is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day.
You’ll be responsible for providing a warm and friendly welcome to visitors to the House, assisting with their orientation around the different rooms, sharing stories and bringing the House to life. If you enjoy meeting new people, have a passion for history, art and historic collections and love story telling then come and work with a great team in a beautiful location.
