Police Scotland are recruiting for future vacancies at our Service centres in Bilston Glen, Edinburgh. You will provide the highest possible standard of service to the Public and the Force by responding to all emergency and non-emergency calls including the provision of advice and assistance, signposting to appropriate information services, recording call information accurately on relevant systems and identifying the level of initial police action that is required.
Please note, if you are successful, we hold you on a list for up to 12 months, so you may be waiting a period of time before you receive a training and start date.
We offer a range of full time and part time shifts:
- · Full Time – Early Backshift- 35 hours,
- · Full Time – Backshift- 35 hours
- · Full time - Late Backshift- 35 hours,
- · Part Time - Rotational Back Shift - 18 hours
- · Part Time – Backshift - 20 hours

The Selection process is split into three parts. Submit your updated CV via Indeed, once reviewed you will be emailed by the Recruitment Team to submit your application via Police Scotland's online application portal. A link for this will be emailed to you so please keep an eye on your communications via Indeed.
Once submitted via the portal, and you have met the shortlisting criteria is met, you will then be invited to a virtual MS Teams competency based interview. Where you will be assessed against the following CVF competencies:

- We deliver, support and inspire
The MS Teams interviews take place on various dates, Monday - Friday at 1000, 1200, 1800, 1900 and 2000.
Then after this, if you are successful at your interview, you will be invited to a half-day selection centre that will comprise of the following exercises:
- Call Taking
- Assessing and Prioritising information
- Identifying locations
- Numeracy, General and Geographic knowledge
- Audio typing test requiring you to demonstrate proficient keyboard skills with a minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute
The half-day selection centres will take place at 0845, 0915, 1330 or 1345 on the following dates:
- Saturday the 28th of January 2023 - Jackton Force Training and Recruitment Centre. This will be a national selection centre for candidates applying for future vacancies at any of our Service Centres.
- Sunday the 12th of February 2023 – Bilston Glen Service Centre, Edinburgh
- Saturday the 18th of February 2023 - Jackton Force Training and Recruitment Centre
- Sunday the 12th of March 2023 - Bilston Glen Service Centre, Edinburgh
- Saturday the 18th of March 2023 - Jackton Force Training and Recruitment Centre
- Saturday the 8th of April 2023 - Jackton Force Training and Recruitment Centre
- Sunday the 16th of April 2023 - Bilston Glen Service Centre, Edinburgh
