Introduction
The Interior Design and Workspace Team in Strategic Estates (SE) provides interior design, workspace planning and move management services for both the House of Commons and the House of Lords and their strategic projects, programmes, and business as usual (BAU) requirements.
The demand for space is established by the two Houses as clients who are supported by the Accommodation Team in the House of Commons and the Facilities Management Team in the House of Lords.
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as a Senior Workspace Designer. You will be a subject matter expert relating to workspace design and space planning across the Parliamentary Estate. The role involves providing clients and stakeholders with technical and professional knowledge in space planning workplace environments, agile working practices, workplace optimisation, delivery, and installation of workplace change.
You will be responsible for interpreting the brief, providing workspace designs in Auto CAD (Computer Aided Design), furniture allocation and supporting moves management services to a high level of customer service, across the Parliamentary Estate.
Some of the responsibilities for this role include:
- Designing workspace proposals and producing space planning drawings in Auto CAD for business-as-usual requirements, projects, programmes, and feasibility studies.
- Work with clients to design and promote agile and hybrid working practices with the ability to relate to and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including clients, staff, consultants, and contractors.
- Provide support, and guidance, and have line management responsibility for 2 Workspace Designers and 2 Moves Co-ordinators.
Skills and Experience
Qualification – Degree or equivalent in Interior Design or related design subject.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Ability to use design software AutoCAD and MS Office
- Experience of providing objective workplace and workspace advice, designing workspace proposals, and producing space planning drawings in Auto CAD for business-as-usual requirements, projects, programmes of work.
- Ability to act as the informed client on workplace and agile workspace planning and design across multiple projects.
- Experience of co-ordinating Furniture, Fittings and Equipment, delivery, and installation.
- Line management experience
