About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and technically minded video editor to apply their skills in content production, editing and technical management. This role will support The Athletic’s video producers and editorial team to build and maintain a news-focused video product. Our ideal candidate will have excellent experience in digital media, high-level expertise in post-production and a keen interest in technical equipment including cameras, lighting, microphones and editing software.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the production team on video projects.
  • Plan, direct and oversee the technical management of livestreams with large audiences.
  • Work closely with the Senior Executive Producer in designing the look and feel of the video product.
  • Maintain, clean and manage our kit.
  • Work with a director to plan and oversee the technical management of live-action shoots.
  • Work with a director to plan, direct and record live-action shoots, including audio capture.
  • Support the development of the other videographers.
  • Edit several videos per week, with a focus on quick-turnaround, and multi-format renders.
  • Work with the operations team uploading our videos and creating thumbnails, writing metadata, descriptions, titles & performing general channel & community management on various distribution platforms.
  • Assist the other video production teams with additional editing when required.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Expertise in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • High level of professionalism; driven and motivated with excellent follow-up.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creative and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Broadcast journalism experience, and/or social video editing experience in the sports media industry is desirable.
  • Must be based in London.
  • Must be available to work shifts, including weekends and evenings.
